These amazing barbel rods have been developed and tested by our brand ambassador Des Taylor.

They have been designed specifically for modern barbel anglers that demand the highest quality specifications and performances. Des has tested these rods over the past 18 months using the 1.75lb TC on his beloved River Severn and Warwickshire Avon and the stepped-up version of 2lb TC on the larger rivers like the Trent and Thames and in that time has caught many barbel, catches that have included up to 20 barbel in a short session and individual fish well into double figures. He has designed two rods in the range that cover all but the most extreme conditions on small or large rivers and to quote Des “Over the years I have been involved in designing a number of rods but these are without a doubt the best rods I have ever put my name too”.

These additions to our CR10 Barbel Rods are the big boys of the barbel rod world! Designed to fish the heaviest of rivers, allowing you to bully big fish away from snags and giving you the ability to cast bigger leads and feeders. These rods are not just a heavy carp rod, they have the same, beautiful action as the lighter test curve barbel rods, but have been stepped up, so they won’t fold in the flow and can cast bigger weights with ease.

Ordered a pair of 2lb cr10 barbel rods. They turned up the next day. Well impressed with packaging and even old school rod tubes. That is attention to detail. The rods are stunning, love the eyes, long white tip and a well thought out folding ring for holding hook when setting up, moving etc. The quality is excellent. If i changed one thing it would be to shrink the writing but that just because I like a clean understated look. Love them

I bought a pair of these mainly for those times when the rivers around me get a bit lively. They had their first outing this weekend, and although the leaves and debris made it difficult to hold bottom even with my heaviest 4oz leads, that certainly wasn’t the rods’ fault.
I still managed a couple of chub close to 5lb, and the rods performed brilliantly. The tips were responsive enough to show the drop_back bites clearly, and there was plenty of power in reserve—though it wasn’t really needed, as both fish gave up fairly quickly.
I’m also looking forward to seeing how they perform as light carp and heavy tench rods come springtime.

Received my rods within three days of ordering. As commented they arrived well packaged in sturdy cardboard packaging and plastic tubes. Set them up with my reels and first impressions are that they are a nice looking rod with quality rings and reel fittings. Every confidence that they will perform as good as they look. I'll be christening them on The Trent over the holiday so looking forward to my trip.

The packaging is perfect; the rods are in a plastic tube, all inside a sturdy cardboard box. It's really very professional. Upon their arrival, I was eager to test them on big fish. I used them in a lake near my home (I live in southwest France) and caught carp between 8 and 14 kg. I had no problems getting these carp into the landing net. These rods are sturdy, so no problem with a big barbel. The action of these rods is very progressive and smooth, but you can feel the power, which is very pleasant. They're also beautiful and built with high-quality components: Fuji guides, Fuji reel seats, and top-quality cork. The price-quality ratio is excellent.

Ces cannes, prévues pour la pêche des barbeaux sont vraiment très bien montées, avec des composants de qualité, anneaux et porte moulinet FUJI, poignée liège de premier choix. Je les ai prises en 2 LBS, mais elles peuvent affronter des gros poissons, d'ailleurs je les ai testées sur des carpes entre 8 et 14 KGS sans aucun problème. Leur action est vraiment agréable. Ces cannes peuvent servir en fait pour toutes pêches au posé , par exemple le sandre pour ceux qui pêchent au vif, et elles existent dans des puissances et longueur différentes. Concernant leur expédition c'est du très sérieux, elles arrivent dans leur housse tissu et sont placées dans un tube plastique ,le tout dans un solide carton, aucun risque de casse. C'est du haut de gamme avec un rapport qualité/prix incroyable.

I treated myself to a pair of the beautiful cr10 barbel rods and when they arrived I was not disappointed.since then I’ve used them several times and Han nice fish and they were a joy to use

I have three of these cadence CR10 12ft barbel rods and reels and I love these rods I love the action and the look well balance and can handle big fish.

I purchased two Barbel rods at the very end of the season so I have not used them yet.
I selected the 2lb test curve rod as the river I fish has not a huge population of Barbel ,however if you are fortunate enough to make contact it is usually a large fish.
I like the appearance of the rods with their cork handles and the colour of the blank I find pleasing. The rods are of good quality and are built to a good standard. I’m sure they will fulfill my needs and I am looking forward to using them in June.

I purchased two CR10 1.75tc Barbel rods matched with two CS10 5500lc reels back in October 2024 as part of an amazing offer by Cadence. Having used these rods during a guide day with Des Taylor I had first hand experience of how they perform and when I received them I was even more impressed. They looked absolutely gorgeous and certainly did not dissapoint. The reels also are impressive and are well balanced on the rod.
Having received this purchase as a Christmas present and due to the excessively high river conditions since then I have not had a chance to use them yet but they are rigged up and ready to go as soon as I have the chance.

Just got my 1.75lb test curve barbel specimen rod matched with the CS10 5500LC reel. The finish on both items is excellent and it feels like a nicely balanced combo. Well packaged with prompt delivery. Looking forward to trying it out soon on the Thames.

I love my Cadence Barbel 2lb TC. Lovely playing action, even though it is easily capable of casting a 5oz plus groundbait feeder three quarters of the way over the River Trent. The ring spacing is spot on and they are large so don't get clogged with weed from a flooded river. Only had mine since Christmas so I've not used it loads but had catches that included three twelve pounders from a snag pit of a swim that required "hit and hold" tactics and a personal best 13lb 3oz beauty. Can't wait for the new season in June!
