These are excellent whip to hand floats as well as good for short lining. Their very slim shape really does offer less resistance to biting fish and they strike through the water very cleanly. If you are expecting bites to come quickly and you do not need to slow or hold back the float then these really are excellent. They offer so little resistance that bites seem to be quicker \u0026amp; more positive. And when striking their lack of resistance, even in the bigger sizes, really is quite noticeable and especially when compared to a more bulbous shaped float typically used in flow.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eShotting depends on size and what you actually want to do and try to achieve but a bulk with some droppers when fishing positively is normally ideal. You can always move the droppers together or further apart and if the bulk is made of several small shot then you can move and spread those as well. These offer little resistance when striking.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIdeal for stillwaters fished mostly with a bulk \u0026amp; droppers they can also be used on slow rivers \u0026amp; drains to very good effect. The smaller 0.4g and 0.6g sizes are great small canal floats choosing the size to suit the depth \u0026amp; wind. The elongated tips will help to show all bites and are especially good at lift bites or when the tell-tale droppers don't settle due to fish intercepting the bait in the very last bit of depth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs with any float, although the tips \u0026amp; stems balance with the bodies, both the solid tips and stems can be cut back to suit. Some people like to cut their solid tips so that they are short and shot the float positively so it is 'fishing' straight away. These tips also help with overshotting when slowing the floats down allowing you to 'inch' the bait through the peg and hold them back even more than others.
